the paperwork
as with any discipline, it takes a lot of paperwork to get a simple production off the ground.
while these days you might find me more on television sets and in radio studios than on film productions.
i can fully vouch that paperwork is vital in ANY discipline you might be in!
from assistant directing on professional sets to producing my own projects and content creation,
paperwork is my best friend and, in my opinion, the universal language of media.
here's an example of some of that paperwork!
the work that goes to a standard call sheet for production:
close look at page one
the main purpose of page one is to communicate what to expect on that current shoot day AND the following day.
any special department instructions can be found in the paperwork within each department.
conscientious of time management is given for each scene in advance to ensure a set wraps at a reasonable time.
close look at page two
the main purpose of page two is for communication amongst departments.
a central place for contact information in case a crew member is running late or a last minute change needs to happen.
close look at page three
the main purpose of page three is a visualization of the travel route from the production office to the set.
while this might just be three giant black squares here, on a day of production this could be vital
for finding a set deep in the middle of nowhere or parking for the carpool, especially when time is sensitive.
